Welcome to Cedar Island Marina Research Laboratory. We are a private research
laboratory founded in 1988. Our activities include marine research, consulting
and environmental education.
Our educational programs influence current and future generations to
respect and preserve marine and terrestrial ecosystems. Our programs
have reached over 50,000 children! We have held programs in all corners
of the State of Connecticut. Our programs involve public and private
schools, summer camps, libraries, nursery schools and day cares, boy
and girl scout troops and senior centers. We are very flexible and enjoy
working with a wide range of ages and abilities
These are our only educational programs and we give them our fullest
attention. Our programs are the finest of their kind in Connecticut!.
We regularly perform research studies involving water quality, finfish,
aquaculture, benthic invertebrates and invasive species. We have authored
studies with organizations such as the UCONN Sea Grant Institute, the
National Marine Fisheries Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, as
well as many other public and private entities. Since 1988, our research
lab has been recognized for its scientific research and environmental
eductational programs. CIM research lab addressess marine issues in
and around Clinton Harbor and all throughout Long Island Sound. CIM
research lab has won numerous awards for it's environmental programs
including the Connecticut D.E.P. "Certificate of Appreciation"
for monitoring Long Island Sound water quality and the Green Circle
Award for 1999. We have also won the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
award for being one of the 25 most environmentally conscious marinas
in the country.
