Welcome to Cedar Island Marina Research Laboratory. We are a private
research laboratory founded in 1988. Our activities include marine
research, consulting and environmental education.
Our educational programs influence current and future generations to
respect and preserve marine and terrestrial ecosystems. Our programs
have reached over 50,000 children! We have held programs in all corners
of the State of Connecticut. Our programs involve public and private
schools, summer camps, libraries, nursery schools and day cares, boy
and girl scout troops and senior centers. We are very flexible and enjoy
working with a wide range of ages and abilities
These are our only educational programs and we give them our fullest
attention. Our programs are the finest of their kind in Connecticut!.
We
regularly perform research studies involving water quality, finfish,
aquaculture, benthic invertebrates and invasive species. We have
authored studies with organizations such as the UCONN Sea Grant
Institute, the National Marine Fisheries Service, U.S. Fish and
Wildlife Service and Southern Connecticut State University, as
well as many other public and private entities.
Since 1988, our
research lab has been recognized for its scientific research and
environmental educational programs. We address marine issues in
and around Clinton Harbor and aid in projects throughout Long
Island Sound.
CIM research lab has won numerous awards for its
environmental programs including the Connecticut D.E.P. "Certificate
of Appreciation" for monitoring Long Island Sound water quality
and the Green Circle Award for 1999. We have also won the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency award for being one of the 25
most environmentally conscious marinas in the country.
